Rich results in 2026: what to expect

Google reduced FAQ rich results in 2023 and now shows them mainly for well-known authoritative government and health sites. For most sites, FAQ markup will not produce the expandable snippet in Google. It is still valuable because:

• It gives search engines and AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) clean question–answer pairs to extract and cite — a key part of GEO.
• Bing and other engines still use FAQ structured data.
• Writing FAQs forces you to answer real user questions, which improves the page itself.

Rules you must follow

1. The questions and answers must be visible on the page — never mark up hidden content.
2. Use it for genuine FAQs written by you, not for user forums (use QAPage) or product reviews.
3. No advertising in answers.
4. One FAQPage block per page is enough.
